The Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias visited today, Friday, December 9, 2022, the Naval Hospital of Athens (NNA), where he inaugurated the renovated areas of the Cardiology Clinic and the 3B nursing ward.

The works to upgrade the building facilities and modernize the health infrastructure of the Cardiology Clinic and the 3B hospital ward of the NNA, were carried out with an exclusive donation from the President of the “Aikaterinis Laskaridis” Foundation, Rear Admiral e.t. Panagiotis Laskaridis.

During his speech, the Deputy Minister of National Defense stated the following:

“I am particularly pleased to be present today at the opening ceremony of the renovated facilities of the Athens Naval Hospital (NAH).

The continuous upgrading of the health care of the personnel of the Armed Forces and their families is at the “heart” of the priorities of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, as well as of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis personally. This is not only because we believe that the existence of a well-organized health infrastructure is an absolutely necessary prerequisite for the military’s fighting ability, but also because we are convinced that our personnel, the power multiplier of our Armed Forces, who on a daily basis give “the good fight » to protect the territorial integrity and security of the homeland, only the best is deserved!

And of course, we do not forget our Healthcare staff, who work day and night to save lives and improve the quality of life of their patients. In particular, in this difficult period of the pandemic where the limits of the country’s Health structures have been tested, private initiatives and offers to society as a whole come to complement the State by providing solutions to urgent problems.

At this point, I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to the “Aikaterini Laskaridis” Foundation, and personally to Honorary Rear Admiral, Mr. Panagiotis Laskaridis, with whose donation the renovation of the Cardiology Clinic and Wing 3B of the NNA was carried out. Mr. Laskaridis, with his rich, consistent and selfless support for the work of the Navy, confirms that he belongs to the class of those native shipowners who were always at the forefront of the Nation’s struggles to maintain a combat-worthy Armed Forces. In closing, I would like to congratulate the Naval General Staff, the staff of the Athens Naval Hospital, as well as those others who have contributed to the realization of this project for the Executives of our Navy».
