Participation of HYTHA Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos in the Conference for the 100th anniversary of the founding of AHEPA (Orlando, Florida, July 21, 2022)

The Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, participated in Thursday, July 21, 2022, as a Keynote Speaker at the AHERA Conference (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) in Orlando, Florida, during which the 100the Anniversary of the founding of this historic Homogeneous Organization, with a major national contribution.

The Conference was also addressed by the Most Reverend Archbishop of America, Mr. Promisingthe Member of Parliament (US Congressman, Florida 12th Congressional District) K. Gas Bilirakis (Gus Bilirakis) and its High President AHEPA (Supreme President, Order of AHEPA) K. Jimmy Kokotas (Jimmy Kokotas).

During his speech, the Minister highlighted the importance of the Organization’s work, over time, for the promotion of national issues, stressing that Homogenia offers important services to our Homeland in dealing with threats and challenges and at the same time constitutes the most valuable capital and an invaluable factor of strength and security for our Nation.

Mr. Panagiotopoulos referred to the work that is being carried out, based on the directions of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the Ministry of National Defense to further strengthen the deterrent capacity and shield the country against any threat, stressing that “Greece does not threaten and is not threatened”.

He also referred to Turkey’s provocative and illegal actions, in violation of International Law, underscoring its destabilizing role in the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond.

Referring to Greece-US relations, he emphasized that they are at an extremely high level, and the strategic defense relationship contributes substantially to the security and stability of the region, highlighting in particular the pivotal role of the Port of Alexandroupolis in the context of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement.
