New challenge from Turkey: AntiNAVTEX east of Rhodes and Karpathos in an area occupied by the Greek ED

Awaiting the start of investigations in the Eastern Mediterranean of Turkey’s fourth floating drilling rig, Ankara has reserved for an aeronautical exercise a sea area previously reserved by the Greek Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces will carry out an exercise between Rhodes, Karpathos and Kastellorizos, from today 3 to 5 August. This is a joint exercise of the Navy and the Air Force with target attack scenarios and image exchange between ships and aircraft.

Turkey, for its part, via NAVTEX issued at the last minute from the Antalya station, has earmarked a maritime area at the same spot for its own live-fire aeronautical exercise for August 3, once again challenging the limits of its maritime jurisdiction. Greece.
