Meeting of the Chief of NATO with the Supreme Commander of NATO Transformation

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the Chief of General Staff General Dimitrios Houpis welcomed the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), General Philippe Lavigne, as part of his official visit to Greece.

The Supreme Allied Commander of Transformation, before his transfer to the “PAPAGOS” Camp, laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square.

During the meeting, which took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, issues of strategic importance were discussed with an emphasis on current regional and international defense and security challenges, and especially on the latest developments in Ukraine and in the Middle East.

The GEETHA Chief pointed out the decisive role played by our country in consolidating stability and security in the Southeast Wing of NATO and in the wider region, while he emphasized the active and practical participation of the Greek Armed Forces (AF) in actions and operations of the Alliance.

General Philippe Lavigne in his statement referred to the Alliance’s prospects for evolution, while he made special mention of the contribution of the EDs to the alliance’s actions, highlighting the credibility of our country.

Upon completion of his official visit to the GHETHA, the GHETHA Chief accompanied SACT to the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikos Dendias.
