Luckily we escaped a Russian monster submarine

Luckily we escaped the Russian, largest research submarine ever built.

This is the Belgorod, the 24,000-ton, 183-meter-long submarine.

The Russian dual-reactor submarine has six Poseidon nuclear-armed torpedoes, writes e-nautilia.gr.

It is the most heavily armed “research” vessel in the world, which, among other things, can carry Losharik spy submarines.

These submarines are designed to destroy undersea communications cables.

Its sheer size probably makes it unsuitable for the Mediterranean, which means that in a sense… we got away with it.

Europe’s and especially Germany’s thirst for Russian natural gas

At the same time, Russia, under the guise of maintenance work, closed the Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline on Monday, with no one knowing if it will reopen.

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline transports about 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Russia to Germany.

Klaus Mueller, head of Germany’s energy regulator, believes the Kremlin may continue to cut Europe’s energy supply beyond the scheduled end of maintenance work, writes cnbc.com.
