Germany: Berlin understood Turkey’s game – How Putin helped Greece

Germany and Turkey had very good relations (including at the level of… scandal) when Angela Merkel was at the helm of Germany.

Germany: Berlin understood Turkey’s game and now the relations between the Germans and the Turks are officially going through a crisis.

The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Analena Berbock, to Athens and Istanbul respectively, confirmed in the most official way that the relations between Turkey and Germany are not just… rosy.

Germany and Turkey had very good relations (including at the level of… scandal) when Angela Merkel was the leader of Germany, but also during the first period of the country’s governance by Olaf Solz.

Today the relations between the two countries cannot be described as just… good, since the Germans stopped pampering Turkey.

But what happened and “broke” this relationship?

If you carefully observe the course of Turkish-German relations, you will find that the change in the sign started with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Turkey not only did not take a stand against Russia but also gave a helping hand to Moscow.

The European sanctions (with Germany having the first say, since it is the largest economy in the EU) do not affect Russia as much as the Union would like, for one reason only. Moscow has found a way around sanctions through Turkey.

Turkey has become Russia’s window to the EU. and the world, with Moscow even offering, according to Bloomberg, foreign exchange assistance to Turkey’s economy, which has been affected by Erdogan’s monetary policies.

Germany is bracing itself for a difficult winter after Russia cut off the necessary quantities of Russian natural gas needed by Berlin.

So the Germans know that the German economy and the Germans themselves will freeze in the winter, and Erdoğan, who is helping Vladimir Putin to circumvent sanctions, will have a large share of responsibility for this.

The Germans found out that Turkey’s double game mainly affects the German economy and Putin’s hybrid war in Europe has the support of Turkey as well.

German-Turkish relations, people with knowledge of the report, told Sportime that “they will never be the same again, since the Germans have a flaw. They never forget.”
