Erdogan announced a new ground attack in Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday spoke of his country’s possible launch of a “ground operation” in Syria, the day after a series of airstrikes against Kurdish positions in Syria and Iraq and rocket fire on Turkish soil by the Syria.

“There is no question that this operation should be limited to an air operation only,” Erdogan told Turkish journalists accompanying him on his return from Qatar, where he had attended the start of the soccer World Cup.

“Our defense ministry and our general staff decide together how many of the ground forces should participate.

“We hold our consultations and then take appropriate measures,” the Turkish president also stated, as reported by international agencies and relayed by the Athens News Agency.
