Biden said the US and NATO would be able to respond to “threats from all directions”. “We will send two additional squadrons” of F-35 fighter jets to the United Kingdom and “put additional air defense capabilities” in Germany and Italy, the president also clarified during a brief speech.

Erdogan-Macron meeting

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid.

The closed-door meeting, which lasted nearly an hour, marked the start of the Turkish president’s bilateral contacts at the three-day high-level summit in the Spanish capital.

After the family photo, President Erdogan shook hands with US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Johnson, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg.
