And then the Aegean what? What are Turkey’s land claims against Greece

What does the “National Oath” of the Turks that is taught in their schools say?

In the last period of time, due to the repeated aggressive rhetoric on a daily basis by Turkey against our country in the Aegean, we have realized that things are serious, since the Turks are putting all their claims in the Archipelago and the SE Mediterranean on the table, at sea , air and land, directly challenging our sovereignty over our islands in the Aegean, in the context of serving the vision of the “Blue Homeland”.

However, so far they do not speak at all about other dreams of land conquest in Mainland Greece, which stem from the “National Oath” of the Turks

What are these lands and what is this secret oath of the Turks?

Why aren’t they now calling these into question as well?
Turkish foreign policy

Turkish foreign policy can be characterized in three words. Alien, contradictory and oversized.

Strange because it has confused the desirable with the realistic. So while it wishes to play the role of a leading power in the region, it does not have the ability and the background to achieve this on its own. It thus tries to draw power from other Muslim states, for example creating mercenaries which it uses to its advantage in Libya, Syria, Nagorno Karabakh and even in N. Iraq.

Also, playing the role of the protector of the Palestinians, he tries to rally the Muslim Arab countries, the Turkophile countries of Central Asia and in general the member states of the Islamic conference, against Israel and the West.

Erdogan dreams of a unified Muslim army that would liberate Jerusalem from Israel and revive the Ottoman Empire.

Of course, this belongs to the realm of science fiction, since we are not living in 1100 but in 2021.

On the other hand, Turkey’s foreign policy becomes contradictory, when it states that it wishes to become a full member of the EU and buy F-16s from the US but also to keep the Russian S-400s, while on the other hand it accuses the EU of being prison for Muslims, that he defends Greece and Cyprus, which Turkey constantly provokes with its actions to seize part of their EEZs.

There is no reason for US-Turkey relations since they disagree on all major regional security issues.

Finally, Turkey’s foreign policy is judged to be oversized, since its aspirations are much greater than its real capabilities as a country.

Erdogan dreams of reconstituting the Ottoman Empire, without taking into account the existence of much larger geopolitical players, such as USA-EU-Russia-France, Israel in the wider region.

He also prints maps, signs the completely invalid and illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, with a vision of realizing the “Blue homeland”.

Is it ever possible for US-Russia-France-EU-Israel to allow Erdogan to turn the SE Mediterranean into a Turkish lake?

The “National Oath”

The Turkish National Oath (Turkish: Mîsâk-ı Millî or Millî Misak) contains six points voted by the last Ottoman parliament in the early 1920s, based on the decisions of the Turkish nationalist assemblies in Erzurum and Sebastien

The oath set the borders of the future Turkish Republic, including the areas of Kirkuk, Aleppo, Mosul and Thessaloniki

The Ottoman government, accepting the request of the Congress of Sebastia, held elections, in which the nationalists prevailed with an overwhelming majority

In January 1920, various meetings of the representatives were held with Kemal and a resolution was formulated, which was sent to Istanbul by Hüsrev Sami Bey

On January 12, 1920, the Parliament began its work in the Ottoman capital and immediately adopted the resolution that had been sent, while on January 28, in a closed session of the Turkish parliament, the proclamation was accepted

The terms of the Turkish national oath are:

-The future of the areas that were inhabited by Arabs in the majority, at the time of the signing of the Armistice of Mudros, will be determined by a referendum.

The areas which were not under the occupation of the allies at the time of the signing of the armistice and had a Turkish-Muslim majority constitute the homeland of the Turkish nation.

-The future of the regions of Kars, Ardahan and Vatum will be determined by a referendum.

– The status of the region of Western Thrace will be determined by the vote of its inhabitants.

– The safety of Constantinople and the Sea of Marmara must be ensured. The regime of free movement of products as well as transport through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles will be determined between Turkey and the other states concerned.

-The rights of the minorities will be ensured based on the reciprocity of the rights of the Muslim minorities in the neighboring countries.

-In order to develop the country at every level, its freedom and independence should be ensured, which will be achieved by removing every obstacle in the economic, political and legal fields.

Although the Treaty of Lausanne of 1923 annuls the Turkish national oath, yet Turkey’s modern foreign policy seems to revive it along with Turkish nationalism.

Alexandretta was annexed by a disputed referendum in 1939 and occupied Cyprus are within the boundaries defined in the Turkish national oath, as are the territories of foreign and sovereign states in which Turkey is currently operating without their consent, Iraq and Syria.

In addition to the six articles of the “National Oath”, attached to it was also a map, which included the Aegean islands and the Dodecanese, Western Thrace, Eastern Macedonia up to Thessaloniki and all of Cyprus in Turkish territory

Finally and this is extremely important, the Turkish “National Oath” is taught in schools, with the result that all Turks know it and are nurtured by it.

Epilogue

In our opinion, any further comment is unnecessary.

The Turks are constantly seeking to reduce Hellenism to land, sea and air.

Anyone who thinks that the Turk will renounce the “Blue Country” and the “National Oath” is probably blind.

Circumstances simply force them to hide all their wishes for the time being, since in Thrace, in addition to Greece, the USA is also located….

That’s why the Turks gave up Alexandroupoli as a port base for the USA.
