Unveiling of the Bust of Vice Admiral (I) Panagiotis Karagiannis at 128SETI

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the unveiling ceremony was held at the 128th Telecommunications-Electronics Training Squadron (128SETI), in the presence of the Chief of the General Staff of the Air Force, Lieutenant General (I) Themistocles Bourolias and as a representative of the Chief of the General Staff of National Defense, General Konstantinos Floros. of the bust of Vice Admiral (I) Panagiotis Karagiannis.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni, Mr. Grigoris Konstantellos, the Commander of the Air Training Command, Lieutenant General (I) Vassilios Papachristou, Senior Air Force Officers, the Commander of 128SETI, Commander (MH) Triantafyllos Dasoulas, delegations of Officers and NCOs, family members, acting Commanders and Unit staff, as well as invited guests.

Vice Admiral (I) Panagiotis Karagiannis entered the Ikaron School in 1937 and was named Second Lieutenant in 1940. He retired with the rank of Vice Admiral in 1972.

He was the initiator, the speaker and the main contributor to the establishment and operation of the Telecommunications-Electronics School in Kavouri, on January 14, 1952, the then-named School of Consensus “S” and later 128SETI.

He was the oldest World War II Veteran Airman and the last operator of the 13th Bombardment Squadron. He passed away on March 19, 2021.
