The Greek Police was honored with two awards again this year at the Digital Gov Awards Competition

The proposals of the Hellenic Police received first and second place in the respective categories of the thematic axis “Citizen Security”

The event was attended by the General Secretary of Public Order, Manos Logothetis and the Assistant Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, Major General Emmanuel Durvetakis

The Hellenic Police participated again this year in the Digital Gov Awards Competition, organized with the aim of the digital transformation of the state and the country more broadly, winning two awards.

The prizes were awarded on Friday, October 13, 2023, at an event organized by the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance and held at the “Miltiadis Evert” amphitheater of Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens.

The event was attended by the General Secretary of Public Order, Manos Logothetis and on behalf of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, the Assistant Chief of Staff, Major General Emmanuel Durvetakis.

The Hellenic Police participated in the competition and was distinguished for two innovative actions:

In the category entitled “Best New Idea”, in the policy area “Citizen Security” the first prize was awarded to the proposal entitled “European Research Action under the coordination of the Greek Police entitled “HECTOR” for the improvement of the Security of Tourist Infrastructures” .
In the category entitled “Best Implemented Idea”, in the policy area “Citizen Security” the second prize was awarded to the proposal entitled “Automated surveillance system in the riverside section of the E/T border in the Evros area and interconnection of the PE.K.O .DI.S.ME.”.

The awards for the Greek Police were received in order and correspondence, by the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Konstantinos Kyranakis, the Police Deputy Director Apostolos Maspero of the Coordinating Body for Strategy & Utilization of Financial Sources of the Office of the Chief of Staff and the Police Deputy Director Andreas Karageorgos of the Border Protection Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters.

The purpose of the competition was to reward public servants and functionaries, who with their actions and ideas have contributed to the digital transformation of the Public Administration and to the improvement of the provision of public services to citizens.

The General Secretary of Public Order during the awarding of the Awards addressed a greeting stating: “I think that we, as the Greek Police, are not used to good words or awards in the first place. We usually hear negatives, so thank you very much for that. We are particularly proud every time we have this happy occasion, when someone awards us, but I want to take this step to thank the Leadership of the Ministry of Digital Governance, all of you, for the excellent cooperation we had in another big project these days , the identities, the new identity and the collaboration is the one mainly with you that will be able to do what we are all here for today, to make our country digital, modern and we can all be proud of it”.
