“In response to the strengthening of American troops in Europe, Russia must show that it is capable of creating a threat to the very existence of the countries of the alliance,” military expert Ilya Kramnik told the VZGLYAD newspaper.

“With the increase of American forces in Europe, the immediate threat to our territory or to the troops of the Russian Armed Forces participating in a special operation in Ukraine, will not increase, as NATO tries to avoid escalation. So, ideally, the alliance will be limited to building up armaments in Europe only. As a rule, the rhetoric of the United States and NATO exceeds the real intentions,” said Ilya Kramnik, an expert at the Council of International Affairs of Russia, a researcher at IMEMO RAS, a military analyst.
At the same time, in the long term, such decisions by the United States and its allies increase the risk of new military conflicts in Europe or the escalation of the current conflict, including territorial ones.
“At the same time, engaging in a frontal conflict with NATO is an unpromising idea, the alliance is even bigger. Answering them symmetrically is also not an option. Otherwise, we will put an undue burden on our economy. This must be avoided,” the analyst said.
