From Monday 02 to Friday 06 October 2023, a specialized NATO standardization training module was held at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center (KENAP/NMIOTC) in Crete, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Defense, in subjects related to design, production and administration of the doctrines and standards of the Alliance.

29 officers from 10 member states and partners of the Alliance (Germany, France, Greece, Netherlands, Italy, Slovakia, USA, Canada, Latvia and Ukraine). The educational module was organized by KENAP and supported by:

● NATO’s Allied Command Transformation/ACT, with the provision of 2 trainers on matters of doctrine and lessons learned.

● The NATO Standardization Office (NATO Standardization Office/NSO).

As part of the training, a specialized subject (case study) was organized on Thursday 05 October 2023 at the 115th Fighter Wing, which included the examination of the application of NATO air operations support standards in the field. The object in question was carried out with the aim of the continuous upgrading of training and is an innovation of the Hellenic Armed Forces in the provided Allied standardization trainings.

The NATO standardization training modules, which are held annually at KENAP (2 training series per year) since 2017, are accredited trainings of the Alliance and are conducted in the context of the implementation of NATO’s strategic planning to increase interoperability and standardization, while since their inception, 360 trainees have graduated.
The undertaking by KENAP of similar educational activities highlights the upgraded role of the Armed Forces in the Alliance, as well as its trust in the allied structures operating in our country, in terms of the implementation of complex and demanding trainings.
