Greek-Turkish: “Erdogan wants a blow to Greece as booty”

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wants to deal a blow to Greece in order to get a strong electoral card, says Lt. Gen. Yiannis Baltzois

Neo-Ottoman “yaches” are unleashed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who makes daily pre-election appearances throughout the country. The “sultan”, wanting to throw away the nightmare of inflation, talks about his plans, indeed baptizing the 21st century as the century of Turkey.

Erdoğan, wanting to rally his old voters and the hard Islamic core, does not fail to mention the successes of the Ottoman Empire, Allah and the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque. The emphasis on Islam, as well as the accusations he throws at Athens, constitute his basic strategy with which he will move towards his re-election.

In the “MEGA weekend” show, lieutenant general e.a. Yannis Baltzois, who mentioned that 2023 will be a milestone year for Turkey, as it marks 100 years since the establishment of the Turkish Republic.

At the same time, the Turkish president does not forget every time to refer to the far-right wing (Grey Wolf) and his government partner, Bakhceli, arguing that he will make Turkey one of the 10 largest countries in the world in all sectors. “At the moment when the world is facing new and vital challenges, we want to make a strong start in the new century of our Republic with the Turkey Century program,” Erdogan said, among other things, in an event that was also combined with the 99 years of establishment of the Turkish republic.

Speaking on Sunday morning (30/10) at Mega, the lieutenant general e.a. Yannis Baltzois, said that 2023 will be a milestone year for Turkey, as it marks 100 years since the establishment of the Turkish Republic.

“I estimate that 2023 will be a landmark year for Turkey. It is the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, it is the creation of the Turkish state. Must Recep Tayyip Erdogan come out with a strong card. He has territories in Syria and Iraq, but his narrative is that he should deal some blow to Greece, which prevents him from carrying out his plans in the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean, and show it off as loot,” he said.

According to Mr. Baltzoi, the large masses of central-eastern Turkey can be easily influenced by the Turkish president’s rhetoric.

“It is a target group that is easily created”, he commented characteristically and added that western Turkey is difficult to convince, because the inhabitants of these regions have a European perception.

A possible defeat in the elections

The data shows that the party of Recep Tayyip Erdogan still has the first place.

The big bet for the Turkish president is whether he will manage to achieve 50%, but he should also consider the possibility that the country will be led to a second round of elections.

“I believe that the Erdoğan system will not allow them to lose. I believe that Erdogan will not lose if they go to elections”, commented Yiannis Baltzois.
