Good morning challenge from Turkey – UAV overflight over Kandeliussa

The flyover took place at 8:21 on Monday morning

On Monday (08/08), Turkey challenged the “good morning” with an unmanned aircraft flying over a Greek island.

In particular, the Turkish UAV carried out an overflight at 8:21 on Monday morning at a height of 21,000 feet above the island of Kandeliussa.

Turkey has put Kandeliussa in its sights as it joins Turkey’s notorious list of Greek islands over which Ankara claims sovereignty has not been transferred to Greece by treaty.

In any case, UAVs are the easiest target for the Greek air defense since their speed is very low.

The overflight comes 24 hours before Turkey’s announcement about where the floating drilling rig “Abdulhamit Khan” will conduct research, which is scheduled to sail from the port of Mersina tomorrow, Tuesday (09/08).

For Athens, the “red line” is considered the 28th Meridian. If for our islands the “red line” is the 6 nautical miles from the coasts, then for this specific point in the eastern Mediterranean it is the sea area west of the 28th Meridian as this specific area is not just a Greek continental shelf, but a Greek EEZ after the demarcation agreement with Egypt and indeed only a few miles from the coasts of the Greek islands and hundreds from the coasts of Turkey. That is, he can no longer present an argument similar to that of Kastelorizos.

So what will be the reaction of our country? According to reliable information, Athens has made it clear to allies and Institutions that it will not allow the slightest movement of Turkish vessels to the west of the 28th Meridian.
