With nuclear weapons, how willing will Russia be to compromise, Chinese newspaper wonders
The position that we should prepare for the worst scenario in Ukraine is expressed in an article by the Chinese newspaper Global Times, which points out that the clear goal of the US is the defeat of Russia.
As the publication reports, political scientists who participated in a poll conducted by the newspaper, estimate that there are no signs of de-escalation of the conflict between Moscow and the West in the near future, stating that “parties related to the Ukrainian crisis should prepare for worst-case scenarios, as the US goal appears to be clear: Russia’s defeat.”
“Having nuclear weapons, who will be willing to compromise,” asked a Chinese political scientist who spoke on condition of anonymity to the newspaper.
According to the Global Times, political scientists argue that the US’s efforts to divide Russia in order to increase its influence in the Eurasian space are triggering the worst possible scenarios for the armed conflict in Ukraine.
“In the US, some strategists really want to break up Russia to eliminate the danger it poses, although in Europe what they want is simply its transformation,” said Wang Yiwei, director of the Institute of International Relations at Renmin University in China.
