“Chinese military capabilities revealed in 81 seconds”
On the occasion of today’s founding anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), state media broadcast a video showing fighter jets and ships.
It’s essentially a demonstration of capabilities, but analysts spotted something for the first time, the DF-17 supersonic missile.
In particular, on July 30, China Central Television (CCTV) presented to the general public the documentary entitled: “The capabilities of the Chinese military revealed in 81 seconds” with reference to the missile – “carrier killer”, which is a clear peak against US naval forces.
Specialist analysts estimated that the missile, ostentatiously displayed at the end of the video to “leave an impression”, is the supersonic DF-17, which was publicly displayed at a military parade in October 2019 in Beijing.
This is a “message of deterrence” to the US, at a time when bilateral relations are quite tense, due to the “rumored” visit of Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, which has caused the anger and irritation of China.
According to a Chinese military analyst, the ability of this advanced missile to be launched from such a location proves that it does not need to be deployed in a fixed infrastructure facility, such as a silo, but instead the vehicle that carries it can maneuver around the field of operations. , making it difficult to destroy it.
At this point, he claimed that it is “almost impossible” to intercept after launch, due to its ability to develop a speed of over Mach 5, combined with the unexpected trajectory it takes.
It is worth noting that this DF-17 supersonic ballistic missile is mounted on a DF-ZF type Hypersonic Glide Vehicle and has a range of up to 2,500 kilometers.
