Attempt at night surprise by the Turks – Immediate response from the Air Force

Turkish fighter jets violated Greek airspace on Monday night, however, they found the “hawks” of the Air Force in front of them and returned in a flash to Turkish airspace.

A pair of Turkish warplanes attempted a night surprise in the Northeast Aegean, violating Greek airspace. Specifically, the attempt of the Turks took place on Monday night (23/5) with their fighters violating the Athens FIR and entering 8.5 nautical miles north of Lesvos.

The attempt, of course, failed as the Turkish pilots found in front of them the Greek fighters, which had taken off immediately and proceeded to the necessary actions. The “hawks” of the Air Force with very fast actions, according to the established practice and according to the international rules, immediately intercepted the Turks within a few seconds and forced them to return to the Ankara FIR…

The challenges over the Aegean are constant with 40 violations

Earlier, new violations of the Athens FIR were preceded by a UAV unmanned aircraft, two CN-235 spies and an ATR-72 naval cooperation aircraft.

The Turkish aircraft committed 40 violations of the national airspace, with six coming from the UAV and 35 from the spies, while there were also four violations of the air traffic rules in the Athens FIR.

The Air Force, with a high sense of responsibility and professionalism, in these cases also proceeded to recognize and intercept Turkish aircraft in accordance with international rules and in accordance with established practice.
