Ankara pulls the rope in view of Madrid, “cutting” the Aegean in two

Attack on Greece by the Communications Director of the Turkish Presidency

Turkey’s revisionism continues with almost daily disputes over Greek sovereign rights.

Turkey, once again attempting to challenge Greek sovereign rights in the field and to “cut” in the two Aegean, begins to illegally block areas with NOTAM 4050/22 for search and rescue and environmental protection exercises for a month and specifically from the June 26 to July 26.

Athens reacted by stressing that the Turkish NOTAM is invalid as Ankara has no jurisdiction over the Athens FIR, adding that the only authorities responsible for planning and conducting Search and Rescue operations are the Greek ones and that the freezing of areas for such a long time creates problems with passenger flights as well

Ready and as it seems determined to raise the thermometer vertically at the NATO Summit is the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan who according to the pro-government newspaper Yeni Safak will spread in Madrid, fans of six points, one of which will be the of the eastern Aegean.

In particular, it will raise an issue
Sweden and Finland in NATO

Opening of a corridor for Ukrainian and Russian cereals (led by Turkey)

Russia-Ukraine war
Greek challenges (demilitarization of islands)
Global financial crisis
Turkish military operations on the Turkish-Syrian border

Showing that the Turkish press is not far from the wishes of the Turkish government, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay raised the issue of demilitarization of the islands, leaving indirect threats against Greece, saying in an interview with Milliyet: “The islands will be demilitarized. otherwise the question of their sovereignty will begin. As Turkey we will do that. We will challenge it. And where does this questioning of sovereignty go? ”

Government sources in Athens commented as follows:

“The right to self-defense is described in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations. “Anyone interested in discussing it should try to settle the continental shelf issue in The Hague or calculate the cost of a response, in a reckless manner, in a way that would not be expected.”

Yesterday, the Communications Director of the Turkish Presidency, Fahrettin Altun, speaking to Al Jazeera, said the following about the tension that, according to him, Greece is causing in the Aegean:

“We remind our neighbor and NATO ally once again that these tactics are doomed to further strategic failure.”

Stating that in recent months they have seen the provocative and useless actions of Greece in the Aegean, Altun said that this is a project that they have seen in the past in various ways.

Noting that Greece periodically increases the tension, making illogical allegations that contradict international law or making propaganda or exerting pressure on Turkey in international fora, Altun said the following:

“Some politicians in our neighborhood have a bad habit of using Turkey as an easy target to divert attention from their strategic failures and gain political support within the country.

We remind our neighbor and NATO ally once again that these tactics are doomed to further strategic failure.

The constant creation of tensions in the Aegean does not benefit anyone. The cost of this intensity increases more and more each time for the part that motivates it. ”

“Despite Greece’s numerous irresponsible actions against Turkey, Turkey remains committed to solutions found through diplomacy and dialogue,” said Fahrettin Altun, adding that Turkey would defend its national interests, regardless of who is the cost.
