Where are the Turks going? – Second day of challenges in the North Aegean – The goal this time is Thassos-Samothraki-Lemnos

Increase in missions of intelligence-gathering aircraft and UAVs portends Turkish operation in the near future

Another busy morning for the Turkish forces in the Aegean, after yesterday.

This time, a well-known foreign website records significant aerial activity in the northern Aegean.

In the morning, a Turkish spy aircraft type ATR P-72MPA of the Turkish Navy (reg. TCB-751 – callsign MARTI85) flew at low altitude (over international waters) between the islands of Thassos, Samothraki and Lemnos.

In the same area, at least three Turkish Bayraktar UAVs were flying between the Asia Minor coast and the Aegean Sea.

These are information gathering missions to Greek islands from Turkey, combined with a naive attempt to show power in our country.

Yesterday we had defiantly intense air activity in the entire Aegean in a highly unusual situation, which the staff of the Greek Pentagon do not know what it is ultimately intended to be.

It is estimated that the Turks, apart from their objective, which is the collection of information about the Greek armed forces and their activities, are also making an idiosyncratic projection of power with flights close to Greek territory.

However, there is also a possibility which is extremely dangerous and has to do with a possible Turkish “investigation” of the possibilities of causing an incident with the Greek side, within the framework of Ankara’s plan.

We remind you that according to the Turkish newspaper Star, yesterday, Erdogan’s representative emphasized that “Greece is not a country that cannot compete with Turkey”.

This doctrine from the Turkish side is perhaps the most dangerous in the entire nexus of the Greek-Turkish rivalry, since it gives Ankara a completely wrong perception, that it can possibly “try” anything in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, without consequences.

If we say, the Turks are likely to attempt some decisive move, it is certain that they will find themselves in front of a terrible surprise, not only because our country is in no way Syria, Libya, Iraq, but because the strength of the Greek armed forces is such which can inflict terrible blows on the corresponding Turkish war machine, accelerating developments even within Turkish territory.

Turkey has spread its claims from Western Thrace and Alexandroupolis, to the Aegean, Cyprus and Libya, in an attempt to disorient the Greek elite (political and military), but we emphasize that its goal remains the same and is the Aegean and especially the region of the Dodecanese, in which they are fully prepared, if and when the Greek military forces are required.

The Greek general staff and all the units on our islands are on heightened alert since the Turks seem to have possibly crossed the “Rubicon” and are attempting a direct challenge against Greece.
