Visit of the Operational Commander of the European Union Naval Force Mediterranean Operation IRINI

On Tuesday, June 06, 2023, the Vice-Commander of the European Union Naval Force Mediterranean Operation IRINI (EUNAVFOR MED IRINI) Vice-Admiral Frangiskos Leloudas PN as the representative of the General of the European Union Naval Force Mediterranean Operation IRINI (EUNAVFOR MED IRINI) Rear Admiral (UH ) Stefano Turchetto, in the context of his visit to Greece.

During their meeting, which took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, issues of mutual interest were discussed with an emphasis on the current developments in the wider Mediterranean region, while the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Mediterranean Sea referred to the decisive role played by Greece as a pillar of security and stability, and pointed out the full support and commitment of our country in the implementation of the mission of the “IRINI” operation, as well as the importance of the further utilization of the Maritime Interdiction Training Center/NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center (KENAP/NMIOTC) for this purpose.

The Commander of EUNAVFOR MED IRINI also had the opportunity for a private meeting with the Chief of General Staff Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis PN where matters of mutual interest were discussed, while subsequently he visited the Operations Center of the Fleet Headquarters (AS/KEPIH) at the Headquarters of the Eastern Mediterranean Command ( SDAM), and met with the Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Katara PN.
