Visit of the Chief of Naval Air Station to the Fleet Headquarters

On Thursday, June 15, 2023, the Chief of Naval Operations General Konstantinos Floros visited the Fleet Headquarters (AS) at the Salamina Naval Station, where he was received by the Chief of General Staff Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis PN and the Chief of the Fleet Vice-Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras PN.

The Chief of the General Staff was informed about the operational and training activities of the DP and about the operational readiness as well as the status of its Commands and Units. He pointed out the particular security challenges that our country is constantly called upon to face, and for which both the increase in deterrence capacity, realistic operational training, but also the practical vision for the medium-long term future of the Armed Forces, a very important part of which are required so is the Fleet.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the operational capabilities of the Navy, through the important equipment programs that are already underway, and pointed out the importance of the upgrading of the naval infrastructure at the Crete Naval Station, which is now rapidly being implemented, as well as the already launched process for the construction of a Naval Base in Pagasitikos gulf, through which the strong presence of the Fleet is ensured in the Aegean and in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the context of the overall upgrading of the Greek Armed Forces which has been successfully carried out over the last three years.

In addition, he referred to the specific actions and measures that have been taken following the directions of the General Directorate for the recruitment of new officers in the Armed Forces and the Navy after many years of course, as well as the care taken for the establishment of the allowance Special Missions, for Fleet crews sailing on National and International missions.

Finally, he gave directions for constant readiness and vigilance in the context of the execution of the mission and congratulated the staff for the work they constantly carry out, making all Greek men and women proud.
