It is the umpteenth time that the Turkish regime calls Greece “the spoiled child of Europe”, with the phrase apparently not being repeated by chance.

Through this constant repetition, they attempt to consolidate internationally for our country a characterization that in the Turkish language and culture hides more aspects than in the Greek one.

Thus, while in Greek, “a spoiled child” is the one who is pampered, in Turkish, the characterization “şımarık koluki”, which is used by the neighbors, also means the child who definitely needs guardianship. Therefore, every time the Turks, addressing Europe, call our country a “spoiled child”, beyond the obvious, they additionally indicate, indirectly but not clearly, that Greece cannot stand against them on its own and that it needs as its guardian the Europe. But also (most importantly) that in the event that the Europeans do not wish to play the role of our guardian, the Turks themselves can play it: as, apparently, they played it during the period of the Turkish occupation, keeping us enslaved, broken. Outrageous reasoning no matter how you look at it, but unfortunately that’s the truth.

But who is really the “spoiled child” of our neighborhood? Who is it that every time he needs money because his economy is collapsing, he turns to his rich patron (see Qatar) to ask for the “loaned and unwashed” pocketbook of financial support? Who is he who, every time, due to his illegalities, financial sanctions are pending, he rushes to beg the Europeans, so that they do not punish him? Who is he who, because the Greek islands are within breathing distance of him, confesses that he feels the urge to stretch out his hands to seize them, to appropriate them illegally, violating every concept of logic, security, international legality and order?

Turkey is clearly the definition of the selfish and immature way a spoiled child thinks: “what I desire, I make mine, even if it belongs to someone else.”

And yet, how much spoiled mentality is hidden by the demand to demilitarize our islands, essentially killing ourselves against the now declared invasion intention on the part of Turkey, which is desperately seeking “living space” according to the Nazi model, invoking the Treaty of Lausanne. A Treaty that the Turks have been trampling on for a century like rag paper, violently uprooting every Greek element from their territory?

Of course, we will not spare them… Our troops are and will always be there, on the battlefields of the islands, as a deterrent against the officially expressed Turkish aggression, in order, if required, to exercise the legal and sovereign right of our Country for defence, in accordance with international law (Article 51 of the United Nations Charter).

The “spoilt child” of the region is not Greece, which, acting institutionally as a member of the European Union, requests the practical support of its European partners, in accordance with what is provided for in the European treaties, in the face of continuous Turkish delinquency. A “spoilt child” and at the same time a “neighborhood bully”, a combination extremely dangerous for peace, stability and security when it comes to international relations, Turkey is proven to be, and this is something that the civilized European community must now have fully realized. A spoiled child who only understands by actions.

So here we are waiting for her…
