Turks: 3/4 of Crete belongs to Turkey – The Greeks should leave – We will land

Turks: 3/4 of Crete belongs to Turkey and the US and Greek presence there is illegal.

“Crete, a Turkish land of 2.5 centuries, was given to 4 countries by England in 1913. Three of these 4 countries later withdrew from the agreement. The Greeks occupied the entire island without Ottoman approval, when the lands were supposed to be transferred to the former owner,” reports Turkish trhaber.com.

“After the First World War, which resulted in the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, many islands belonging to the Turks in the Aegean were left with uncertain legal status. The most important of these islands, which were donated to the Greeks by the dominant powers of the period without the approval of Turkey, is undoubtedly Crete, with its position reminiscent of an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Mediterranean”, the Turks emphasize.

“Crete, one of the islands whose legal status remained in limbo for a century after the war, never belonged to Greece on paper. There is no official agreement that Athens owns this entire island,” underlines trhaber.com.

The London Agreement of May 30, 1913 stipulated the transfer of Crete to the “Allied Powers”. These “allied states” defined by England consisted of Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia and Greece. After the transfer of Crete to these 4 countries on paper, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia withdrew from the agreement and renounced their rights,” it says.

“With the withdrawal of these three countries, while it was expected that 3/4 of Crete would pass to its former owner, i.e. the Ottoman Empire, Athens created a de facto situation by claiming the entire island,” write the Turks.

The former Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, Umit Yalim, said that “three quarters of Crete belong to the one who gave the island to these countries, namely the Ottoman Empire, which today is the Republic of Turkey” and that the 3/ 4 of Crete and the surrounding islands of Gavdos, Dia, Dionysades, Gaidouronissi and Koufonisi should be evacuated immediately.

Crete, which is heavily armed by the US, will be “one of the primary targets of the Turkish Armed Forces in the event of a war following a provocation in the Sea of Islands,” it said.

The Turkish SAT and SAS teams “also have legal justification for the landing operation against Crete,” the article concludes.
