Turkish vessel close to shore harassing Coast Guard vessel – Warning shots fired

An unknown incident reportedly took place during the harassment of a Greek Coast Guard vessel by a Turkish offshore vessel off Samos. Warning shots from the Greek authorities.

As OPEN reported, on November 1, while the Turkish Coast Guard was trying to ram a Coast Guard patrol off Samos, another Turkish vessel did not comply with the signals made by the Greek ship.

The Turkish vessel did not pay any attention and continued to… roam the sea area. Then the Coast Guard men were forced to fire warning shots in a safe area, the Turkish ship was stopped and the two on board were arrested.

According to OPEN, they had started from the Turkish coast and allegedly told the Greek port officials that… they got confused. There are two scenarios that the authorities are considering.
