A large increase in migration flows in the Aegean, Turkey is trying to “hit” Greek tourism.
Turkey is angry as it plans to invade Evros less than two years ago and is now trying to achieve the same by sea. Going through the heart of summer, the provocative Erdogan Government is undoubtedly targeting Greek tourism which this year – after two years of tough measures due to Covid – was expected to have a huge increase in tourists who would choose Greece for their holidays.
Turkey’s challenges are manifesting at all levels. The Aegean is “boiling” from increased migratory flows. At midnight, Turkish traffickers pushed boats loaded with migrants, in order to enter our country illegally. These are eight incidents with 340 people who were stopped by our port authorities in Lesvos, Chios and Samos.
A few days ago we also had an incident with immigrants who went to approach Mykonos and now we have the above incidents.
