Treacherous Turkish attack on the Greek ambassador in Ankara – Loud response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our ambassador

According to the Turkish Media, Turkey protested to Greece and the USA about the deployment of American armored personnel carriers on the islands of Lesvos and Chios.

The Greek ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which requested “to stop the violations on the islands and restore the demilitarized regime”.

According to the Turkish network NTV, “Greece has deployed American-made armored vehicles on Lesvos and Samos, islands that according to international agreements must be demilitarized.

“The footage was captured by a Navy UAV.”

The Turkish claim of armored personnel carriers on the two Greek islands is based on drone photos.

Responding to a related communication, made earlier today by the Turkish side to the Greek Ambassador in Ankara, Christodoulos Lazaris, the Greek side rejected the Turkish objections as a whole, as they are completely unfounded and inconsistent with International Law, cite diplomatic sources and continue :

“The Greek Ambassador underlined that the Greek positions have been thoroughly developed in the two letters sent to the UN Secretary General.

»Greece absolutely respects its obligations arising from the Treaty of Lausanne.

“Our Ambassador in Ankara pointed out that Greece is not the country that threatens its neighbor with war (casus belli), nor has it gathered the largest amphibious fleet on its shores, as Turkey has done.

“He added that Turkey continues to violate the sovereignty of Greece, with its continuous airspace violations, as well as its overflights over Greek territory.”
