The vulnerable points of the Evros fence that Greece is strengthening

The Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, was in Evros and referred to the points that Greece needs to protect against illegal immigration.

Greek-Turkish: Turkey is still “pushing” illegal immigrants to Greece, with our country being on “red alert” for immigrants who escaped electronic eyes.

Through Sportime you had read that with the “blessings” of Turkey, the flow of immigrants increased dramatically during the summer.

So for 23 days the 22 men, 9 women and 7 children had not been noticed by the electronic surveillance system of the Greek police, even though twenty million euros have been spent on it!

So, as is logical, this particular development signaled an alarm not only in the Ministry. Citizen Protection but also at the American Embassy. Let us not forget that the American interest is great, due to the importance of the port of Alexandroupolis for the interests of the USA.

This is exactly why our country has drawn up a plan to strengthen the fence in Evros, with a total length of 140 kilometers, of which 80 of them are planned to be done immediately. At the same time, the electrification project has already been completed, with the aim of better lighting at night, as well as the installation of thermal cameras. In addition, new recruitments of border guards are expected, while the EL.AS patrols are mandated by the government. and the Greek army (using drones) to be continuous.

Greek-Turkish: What Takis Theodorikakos said about the “Akritas” project and strengthening the fence

So the Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos was today (Tuesday 6/9) in Evros from where he pointed out the points where the fence of Evros needs strengthening.

“We have already implemented the “Akritas” project. A plan to shield our borders, a plan to respect International Law and respect human life.

The “Akritas” Plan includes, among other things, the extension of the fence along the entire Greek-Turkish border in Evros, the strengthening of our staff with 250 new border guards and the strengthening and upgrading of electronic means of surveillance. We are already deploying 5 new vehicles here today that expand our deterrent capability.

With the “Akritas” project we send a clear message of national determination: Against those who, by investing in human suffering, attempt to promote hidden and alien pursuits. And against those who, using immigration as a tool, attempt to blackmail Europe itself.

All Greeks remain united and committed to respecting our sovereign rights, our international obligations, but also human life itself,” said the Minister, among other things.
