The US approved the Greek S-70B/B6 AegeanHawk support program

Yesterday, the US DSCA (Defense Security and Cooperation Agency) announced that the US Department of State approved an FMS (Foreign Military Sales) program to support the S-70B/B6 AegeanHawk naval cooperation helicopters at a potential cost of $162.07 million.

The program concerns the provision of spare parts, consumables and other materials and support services. We remind you that the Navy maintains 11 S-70B/B6 AegeanHawk (three B and eight B6) in service. The first five (5) S-70B6 Aegean Hawk were purchased for €161 million in 1991 and delivered in 1994-1995. In 1996 another (1) helicopter was purchased (delivered in 1997), while in 1997 two (2) additional helicopters were purchased (delivered in 1998).

In 2000, three (3) helicopters of the S-70B Aegean Hawk version were ordered, which were received in May 2004 (two helicopters) and in June of the same year (one helicopter).

In addition, the Greek S-70 fleet is expected to be reinforced with seven (7) state-of-the-art MH-60R SeaHawks.
