The activity of a transnational criminal organization that was active in the importation and further trafficking of narcotics from European countries into Greek territory was identified – 2 Arrests of members of the criminal organization, including the leader
More than -77- kilograms of cannabis and -3- kilograms of cocaine were seized
The illegal financial benefit exceeds the amount of -550,000- euros
The Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Attica Security Directorate identified the activity of a transnational criminal organization that was active in the importation of large quantities of narcotic substances from European countries, with the aim of their further trafficking in Greece.
For the case, yesterday, Sunday, October 22, 2023, at midday, in the area of Eastern Attica, -2- people, 52 and 33 years old, were arrested, against whom a case file was filed – as the case may be – for criminal organization, violence against employees and violation of the law for drugs.
Appropriate use of information was preceded, from the verification and cross-checking of which, as well as through the creation of profiles of those involved (profiling), the involvement of the arrested in the criminal organization, its professional structure, its transnational character, as well as the role of each member as follows:
the 33-year-old, as the head of the group of arrested persons, had undertaken the contacts with the importers and traffickers of the drugs, the coordination of their import by trucks and their reception, with the aim of delivering them to the final traffickers,
the 52-year-old, was a direct partner with the head regarding the receipt of the drugs from suppliers in a European country, while taking advantage of his status as a professional truck driver, he had undertaken to import them into Greek territory.
In a coordinated police operation that took place at noon yesterday, Sunday, October 22, 2023, in an area of Eastern Attica, by police officers of the General Affairs Department of the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate, the 2 defendants were caught having in their possession, inside a specially designed crypt in the floor of a trailer, more than -77- kilos of cannabis and -3- kilos of cocaine, distributed in improvised nylon packages.
In fact, the 33-year-old man tried to escape his arrest, while when he was stopped, he strongly resisted by pushing the police officers.
From the preliminary investigation carried out, it emerged that the above amounts of drugs were imported from a port into Greek territory by the 52-year-old on Friday, October 20, 2023, on behalf of the 33-year-old, acting for the benefit of the criminal organization.
In total, from the searches carried out, the following were found and seized:
-39- kilograms and -711.8- grams of processed cannabis,
-37- kilograms and -419.9- grams of raw cannabis,
-3- kilograms and -250- grams of cocaine,
truck,
superimposed,
I.X. vehicle,
-3- motorcycles,
-9,150- euros,
-6- mobiles and
multitude of nylon packages.
The illegal financial gain from drug trafficking is estimated to exceed the amount of -550,000- euros.
Those arrested are being taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while investigations to fully verify the action and identify the remaining members of the criminal organization continue.
