Swearing-in ceremony of the new Second Constables, graduates of the Professional Continuing Education Departments of Police Constables (T.E.M.A.)

Swearing-in ceremonies for a total of 66 new Second Constables, graduates of the Police Professional Continuing Education Departments (T.E.M.A.), took place today, Friday, June 9, 2023, at the School of Continuing Education and Training of the Hellenic Police, in Acharnes Attica and at the School of Continuing Education and Training of the Greek Police of Northern Greece, in Veria Imathia.

The doxology was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Samos, Ikaria and Korseon Mr. Eusebius, with the co-officiant the Head of the Religious Service of the Hellenic Police, Most Reverend Archimandrite Police Officer II Alexios Kourtesis.

At the ceremony held at the headquarters of the School of Continuing Education and Training in Attiki, the swords were presented to the 37 new Junior Police Officers by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Charalambos Lalousis, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos, the Commander of the Police Academy , Lieutenant General Charalambos Kalogiros and the Commander of the Hellenic Police Training School, Police Director Ilias Paliogiorgos.

The Minister of Citizen Protection addressed the graduating Officers, while the Commander of the Hellenic Police Training School read the Order of the Day.

As part of the ceremony, the Minister of Citizen Protection also presented commemorative plaques to 4 officers of the Cyprus Police, who successfully graduated from the Department of Professional Continuing Education of Police Officers of the School of Continuing Education and Training of the Hellenic Police.

The ceremony was honored with their presence as a representative of the Chief of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Iakovos Gizis, as a representative of the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Major General Dimitrios Kalianiotis, Deputy Chief Kyria Bosina of the Training and Post-Training School of the Fire Brigade, Director of the Cyprus Police Academy, Police Officer A’ Panagiotis Kountouresii and the Police Liaison of the Embassy of Cyprus in Greece, Mr. Georgios Grigoriou.

On behalf of the Greek Police, the Deputy Chief of the Greek Police, Lt. Gen. Georgios Douvalis, the Chief of Staff of the Greek Police, Lt. Gen. Eleftherios Garilas, the Inspector General of the Police of Southern Greece, Lt. Gen. Nikolaos Spanoudakis, Heads of the Branches of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, as well as heads of its Directorates Hellenic Police Headquarters. Also present were the Commander of the National Security School, Brigadier General Panagiotis Kollintzas, Brigadier General Konstantinos Chalkias and Police Director Vasilios Saloukas of the Police Academy, the Commander of the Greek Police Officers School, Police Director Georgios Klitorakis, other top and senior officers, representatives of trade unions , representatives of the Judicial and Prosecution authorities of the Country, professors of the School, other guests and relatives of the sworn Officers.

In the ceremony held at the headquarters of the School of Post-Education and Training of Northern Greece in Panorama Veria, the swords were handed over to the 29 new Junior Police Officers by the Inspector General of the Police of Northern Greece, Lieutenant General Spyridon Sklavos, in the presence of the Director of the General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia, Brigadier George Tzima and the Commanding Officer of the Post-Training & Training School of the Greek Police of Northern Greece, Police Deputy Director Sofia Gaitanidou, who also read the Order of the Day.

The doxology was officiated by the Metropolitan of Berea, Nausis and Campania Mr. Panteleimon.

The ceremony was honored with their presence by the Mayor of Veroia Konstantinos Borgiazidis, the Mayor H.P. Naoussa Nikolaos Karanikolas, as a representative of the Deputy Regional Governor of Imathia Prefecture, Mrs. Niki Karatzioula, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Division of Veria, Major General Sarantis Tyligadas and the Commander of the Fire Service Administration of Imathia Province Pyrarchos Alexandros Kouvakas.

From the Greek Police side, the Director of the Imathia Police Directorate, Brigadier General Georgios Adamidis, was also present, as well as other senior and junior Officers of the Corps and representatives of trade unions. In addition, representatives of the local government and the judicial authorities, professors of the School, other guests and relatives of the sworn Officers were present.

Yesterday, Thursday, June 8, 2023, graduation ceremonies were held for the seventy 70 graduates of the Police Officers’ Professional Post-Training Departments of the Greek Police Post-Training and Training Schools, in Attica and Veria.

The diplomas were awarded to the 37 Junior Police Officers, graduates of the Greek Police Training School, as well as to the 4 officers of the Cyprus Police, by the Inspector General of the Police of Southern Greece, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Spanoudakis, while at the corresponding ceremony in Veria, the diplomas were awarded to 29 young Deputy Police Officers II, was awarded by the Governor of the School of Postgraduate Education and Training of Northern Greece, Police Deputy Director Sofia Gaitanidou.

It is noted that the mission of the School of Continuing Education and Training of the Greek Police is the retraining, training and specialization of the personnel of the Greek Police, with the aim of constantly updating them on modern police issues and problems of general and special interest, so that they fully respond to their duties.

In this context, the School implements every year a number of specialized seminars to provide targeted knowledge to police personnel by experienced and renowned professors of the Academic community, senior judicial officers, as well as experienced and qualified Police Officers.
