The Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense Mr. Antonios Oikonomou on Wednesday 31 August and Thursday 01 September 2022, attended as a representative of the Greek Government, on events for the Anniversary of the Battle of Gerontas and at the opening ceremony of the new wing of the Kalymnos hospital.

In more detail, Mr. Economou was present in the representation of the burning of the frigate of the Ottoman fleet, in the port of Kalymnos, in the context of anniversary events for the Battle of Gerontas, which was one of the most important naval battles of the Greek Revolution.

On Thursday, September 1, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended at the official opening ceremony of the new wing of the Kalymnos Hospital “Halikios Pteryga», which is a donation of Mr. Ioannis HalikouGreek expatriate in Australia originally from Kalymnos.

In addition, on Wednesday 31 August, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications attended the consecration of 8 newly built apartments Military Officers’ Housing (SOA), which will be delivered within September for use by the officers serving in Kalymnos.
