Participation of the Armed Forces in the Multinational Air Exercise “STEADFAST NOON 2023”

From Monday 16 to Thursday 26 October 2023, and in the context of the wider planning of GEETHA in terms of international cooperation, the Armed Forces (AF) participated in the Multinational Air Exercise “STEADFAST NOON 2023”, conducted under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces Europe (Supreme Allied Commander Europe – SACEUR) General Christopher G. Cavoli.

“STEADFAST NOON 2023”, is a LIVEX (Live Exercise) exercise, is the largest NATO exercise focused on nuclear weapons operations, and aims to train on the procedures for the repositioning of Aircraft (A/F) High Readiness (HR) Dual Capable Aircrafts (DCA) at selected bases, as well as on the support procedures of nuclear weapons operations with conventional A/F (Support of Nuclear Operations With Conventional Air Tactics – SNOWCAT).

The Exercise took place at the Aviano, Ghedi, Trapani and Gioia Del Colle Air Bases (AB) in Italy, and Greece participated in it with 3 F-16 A/Fs and the corresponding Air Force support personnel, as well as 1 Officer as Liaison Officer (LNO) in the staff for conducting the Exercise at AB Aviano, while a total of personnel and aircraft from 13 countries of the Alliance participated.

The participation of the ED in “STEADFAST NOON 2023” contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness and combat capability, as well as to the upgrading of the multi-level military synergy of the Armed Forces in an allied context.
