The Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participated today, November 16, 2022, in a Video Conference (VTC) of the Defense Contact Group in Ukraine, which was organized at the initiative of the US Secretary of Defense Mr. Lloyd Austinwith the participation of Ministers, Deputy Ministers of Defense and high-ranking Officials.

In the video conference, the Chief of the GETHA General also participated Konstantinos Floros.

The current developments in Ukraine were discussed, while special emphasis was placed on provision of defense equipmenttraining of the military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and cooperation between defense industries to meet equipment needs.

During his intervention, the Minister of National Defense emphasized that the invasion of Ukraine constitutes flagrant violation of International Lawwhich undermines peace, security and stability in Europe, while underlining that the recent his visit to Ukraineaccompanying the President of the Republic, made him aware of the extent of the destruction and human suffering caused by the war.

Mr. Panagiotopoulos referred to the humanitarian and defense aid that has been provided by our country to Ukraine, such as 155 mm ammunition. and, recently, BMP-1 armored fighting vehicles and emphasized that Greece will continue to support the righteous struggle of the Ukrainian people to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
