Our Federation is particularly pleased to announce that on Friday, June 2, 2023, a meeting was held between the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the FOES, Rear Admiral (E) Dimitrios Methenitis.
The meeting was held in a very good atmosphere and revolved around the daily life of the military and the very serious problems they face, of which the Minister showed to a great extent aware. Therefore, the Chairman of the Board handed over to the Minister a full information memorandum of the WTO, accompanied by proposals.
From all the issues discussed based on the agenda of the WTO, it is worth mentioning that the Minister was shown to be concerned with the major issue of resignations and the reasons that lead to them. The difficult daily working life, the lack of recognition and the economic hardship that torments the military personnel were discussed. Combined with the above, a significant part of the discussion dealt with issues of understaffing and all that is related to them (e.g. layoffs EPOD and OBA etc).
We found with particular satisfaction that the response of Mr. Minister was particularly positive, as well as that personnel issues are very high on the leadership’s daily agenda. We hope that the lack of interest that has generated many complaints in recent years will soon become a thing of the past.
On the part of our Federation, we wished the Minister every success in his difficult task, wishing him the maximum possible stay in the position. Finally, we pointed out that the struggle is common in the face of the problems of the military and we will be helpful in every effort to improve their daily life.
