Operation to apprehend fugitives with pending arrest warrants and convictions, multi-year prison sentences, for attempted manslaughter, illegal carrying of weapons and use of weapons
-3- fugitives were arrested, as well as -2- more people, who were also arrested for violating the laws on drugs and weapons
Quantities of heroin, cocaine, drug tablets, -2- pistols, cartridges and 2,370 euros were seized
A special operational action to identify and arrest persons involved in serious criminality was carried out at midday yesterday, Thursday, June 1, 2023, by police officers of the Southeast Attica Security Sub-Directorate and the Markopoulos-Mesogaia Security Department, with the assistance of police officers from the Prevention and Suppression Team of Crime (O.P.K.E) as well as police drug detection dogs.
A total of five (5) nationals were arrested, of which three (3) were wanted as they had pending arrest warrants and a ten (10) year prison sentence against them, for – as the case may be – attempted murder, illegal carrying of weapons and use of weapons as well as for robbery by collaboration.
In particular, the above were located in neighboring houses in Markopoulo, Attica, and an operation to arrest them followed.
In fact, the three fugitives in sight of the police tried unsuccessfully to escape by jumping over a wire fence, while at the same time, in an adjacent village, a woman was trying to destroy narcotics in a makeshift wood stove, but she was stopped by the police before completing her act.
In this context, all five nationals were arrested and charged with – as the case may be – the offenses of disloyalty, weapons and drug legislation.
In searches carried out in the houses, the following were found and confiscated:
-2- magazines with a total of -26- 9mm cartridges,
-59.4- grams of heroin in rock form,
-12.9- grams of cocaine,
-52- narcotic tablets,
precision electronic scale,
-4- mobile phones and
Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
