The Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met yesterday, in Brussels, on the sidelines of the NATO Defense Ministers’ Summit, with the Secretary General of the Alliance, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg.
During the meeting, international and regional developments were discussed, with an emphasis on Ukraine and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Minister of National Defense informed Mr. Stoltenberg about the latest developments in the aggressive rhetoric of the Turkish leadership. He underlined that they undermine the unity and cohesion of the Alliance, and security and stability in the region at a critical juncture.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos pointed out that Greece’s permanent position is consultation and dialogue based on International Law and the principle of good neighborliness, stressing at the same time that Greece will not accept any questioning of Greek sovereignty.
