Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova directly accused the US of creating the energy crisis by pushing the Europeans to the “suicidal” step of imposing counter-sanctions on Russia.

“It’s completely suicidal, but it looks like they’re going to see it through,” concluded Zakharova.
