From Monday 17 to Friday 21 July 2023 and in the context of the overall planning of the GHET with regards to the actions of Military Cooperation between Greece and the USA, joint training in Special Operations was carried out in the wider area of Stefanovikei Volos.
The joint training was attended by staff and members of the newly created Special Warfare Command (DEP) of the GHETHA and the 1st Army Aviation Brigade (1st CLASS) as follows:
- Personnel of the 32 Marine Brigade (32 TAX PZN).
- 1 Helicopter (E/P) AH-64A and 1 E/P AH-64D.
On the US side, 5 E/P UH-60 Black Hawk of the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade (3rd CAB) participated as part of the training development of its elements in Stefanovikeio, based on the Updated Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement between Greece and the US (Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement – MDCA).
During it, training flights were carried out in a high-altitude mountainous environment in combination with airborne actions day and night, and training in rappelling from an A/V with the rappel technique, which contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness, combat capability and the exchange of know-how during the design and execution of Special Operations between the participants, highlighting the long-term cooperation of the two Countries in the field of Special Warfare.
