For information that in addition to strengthening their outposts in the dead zone, the Turks have commando forces in the rear ready to intervene, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulidis.
Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, during the debate on the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2023, Mr. Kasoulidis said that at the slightest moment, when a farmer goes to cultivate his land inside the buffer zone, the Turkish soldiers come out, and create an episode.
Mr. Kasoulidis estimated that Turkey is currently launching a huge, multi-front attack against the Republic of Cyprus.
“We are going through a period of transition, the last months of the current government and the next few months until the new government finds its feet.
Today, however, there was a major, disturbing and provocative development as the Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan admitted the pseudo-state to the Organization of Turkic States as an observer.
The relevant announcements were made during his speech in Samarkand, where he was for the 9th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States
“According to the law of fraternity, we accepted as an observer in our Organization (of Turkish-speaking countries) the “TRDB”.
“We showed our brothers the Cypriots, who are an integral part of the Turkish world, that they are not alone, while contributing to the resolution process. I want to thank each one of you, my esteemed brothers, for your solidarity.”
Erdogan also turned against the EU, saying that it has had Turkey at its door for 52 years and is making it suffer:
“As an observer member, I really thank my brother, Viktor Orban, for the bridge he created between Europe and the Turkish world.
“And as if he comes from the same roots, he fights for democracy within the European Union and for this reason, I congratulate him. […] At the door of the EU we suffered for 52 years.
“They still do the same. We will give our answer when it is necessary and the time comes.”
The inclusion of the pseudo-state in the Organization of Turkish States was welcomed in solemn tones by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, writing:
