Today, Friday, July 22, she went to her headquarters Command of the Defense of the Island (DAN) of Megistis, where he was informed by the Commander of the Colonel Vasilios Mizioson the Administration’s current operational and educational activities and spoke with the executives and conscripts. He was also briefed and inspected the progress of the work on the construction of the new building for staff accommodation.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias and CEO of the Operator of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network (D.E.D.D.H.E.) Mr. Anastasios Manos inspected and handed over for use yesterday, Thursday 21 July 2022, installation of inverter status (converter) for the benefit of the Navy in the port of Kastellorizos.
This important infrastructure project, which will fully cover the electricity needs of the Navy ships during their docking, was carried out at the initiative of the political leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, in close cooperation with the D.E.D.D.N.E. and the contribution of the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Megistis. It is a project that contributes, on the one hand, to increasing the operational capabilities of the Navy to support operations in the wider area of the Eastern Mediterranean, Crete and the Eastern Aegean, and on the other hand, to reducing environmental noise, as well as the environmental footprint on the island.
Present were the mandated Regional Education Advisor of the South Aegean Region, Mr. Christos Bardos as a representative of the Regional Governor of South Aegean, o Mayor Megistis Mr. George Sampsakosthe Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Headquarters Admiral Christos Degiannis PN, the Commander of the DAN Major Colonel Vasilios Mitsios, the Governor of the TPC DANIOLOS Admiral Nikolaos Grekas PN, a delegation of executives of the Armed Forces, as well as his D.E.D.D.N.E.
