The Army Cadets can offer a lot of exciting opportunities to young people from 12 and 17 years old, but we know that parents and carers will have questions about the Army cadets, what it does and the kind of activities our cadets take part in.
Can you join cadets at 14
For fun, friendship, action and adventure, join the Army Cadet Force If you’re over 12 and under 18, you can join the Army Cadets.
Can you join cadets at 16
Equality is a central part of the Air Cadets’ ethic. The cadet experience is open to everyone, so whatever your nationality, background or ability, whether you’re male or female, if you’re between 13 (or 12 if in Year 8) and 17 years old you can join us.
How much does cadets cost
A: You can join as soon as you are 12 years old and can stay until your 19th birthday. Q: How much does the program cost? A: Cadets is a free program, there is no cost to join.
Are Army Cadets free
There will be costs for attending weekend training camps, annual camps and other activities, but we try to keep these as low as possible. Parade nights in detachments are free, but some detachments may request a small weekly subscription to go towards detachment events and visits.
Do military cadets get paid
Cadets at the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, and midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy are entitled to pay at the monthly rate of 35 percent of the basic pay of a commissioned officer in the pay grade O-1 with less than 2 years of service.
Is 15 too late to join cadets
The maximum age for entry is 17 years old, therefore you can request to join us anytime between your 12th and 17th birthday. If you are above that age group and still want to enjoy all of our activities and more, you could join as a volunteer.
Can a 13 year old join the military

Can cadets use guns
Rifles. Cadets within the Air Training Corps will learn to fire a number of different rifles. As their proficiency in handling the rifles improves the cadets will progress on to more advanced rifles with increased complexity. Note: Cadets will only fire rifles and not hand guns or pistols.
Are Army Cadets good
Becoming an Army Cadet has heaps of benefits. The most obvious being that you get to take part in loads of exciting and challenging activities such as fieldcraft, adventure training, first aid, music, sports and shooting, to name but a few.
How much sleep do cadets get
For example, at the U.S. Military Academy, cadets sleep less than 5 hours per night during the week and under 7 hours per night on weekends. Troops at basic training get an average five to six hours of sleep a night and often are awoken several times a night for training.
Do you have to be fit to join Army Cadets
No. So long as you are medically fit (can pass an ENG1 medical examination) you can apply to become a cadet.
Do cadets wear uniforms?
Cadets need one uniform to get started. Eventually, the cadet will want to have both the camouflage utility uniform (ABUs) and the Air Force-style service uniform, “blues.”

How long is Army Cadets
The package has five parts comprising three induction courses: basic, intermediate and advanced, plus two short course in First Aid and basic shooting and coaching. Most people complete the Package within their first 18-24 months of service but your progress will depend on your abilities and the time available.

It’s really hard to get into a military service academy. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 41,989 people applied to the five military academies for the Class of 2023. However, there are only about 4,100 slots available each year.
Do cadets fly planes
Flying is a large part of the Academy experience.
Some of the most enjoyable training cadets say they get at the Academy is the aviation and airmanship courses offered throughout their four years at the Academy. Airmanship opportunities range from flying solo in a sailplane to parachuting out of an aircraft.
