Hellenic Army: Procurement program of 776 rounds of ammunition for the 89mm LCAC F1 mobile anti-tank guns

The General Directorate of Defense Equipment & Investments (GDAEE) has announced a tender for the award and execution of a contract for the supply of 776 89 mm ammunition for the 89 mm LCAC F1 (Lance-Roquettes AntiChar de 89 mm modèle F1) portable anti-tank guns.

The systems are also known as STRIM (Société Technique de Recherches en Industries Mécaniques), from the initials of the French company that in 1964 won the contract to develop the replacement for the M-20A1 Super Bazooka anti-tank. The program budget amounts to €666,500, with funding starting in 2022 or the year the contract is signed/activated.

The amount will be paid in installments, within three years (€ 300,000 in the first year, € 200,000 in the second year and € 166,500 in the third year). The deadline for submitting the required supporting documents is set for January 10, 2023.

In Greek service, LCAC F1 anti-tanks serve in the Special Forces. It is a PAO class weapon (recoilable gun), with an effective range of 300-500 meters and a maximum range of 2.3 kilometers.

It is light, weighs only five (5) kilograms, is operated by two (2) people (gunner and loader) and is 1.17 meters long. It can fire various types of ammunition, such as anti-tank or anti-personnel.
