Where is Erdogan’s rhetoric leading and how likely is a “hot episode” in the Aegean?
Greek-Turkish: Greek-Turkish relations are walking on a tightrope, with the result that one reasonably wonders how close or far a hot episode is.

Let us not forget the unprecedented decisions made by the National Security Council, as in the relevant announcement issued, there is a clear reference to the militarization of the Greek islands and it is pointed out that “the circles that encourage Greece to arm islands that are under a demilitarization regime are invited to return to the common logic”.
It is the latest major escalation at a time when inflation is soaring, analysts predict the Turkish lira will fall by up to 20% in the coming period and Turkey’s economic situation will worsen.
It should be noted that on May 14 or 21 there are also elections in the neighboring country, with Erdoğan trying to present a very different image on issues that concern his image both at home and abroad.
