The escalating Turkish provocation of recent weeks, which can be summed up both in terms of rhetoric, culminating in Mevlüt Çavuşo «lu’s “we do not bluff”, but also on the field over the Aegean and at the country’s maritime borders, awakens the reflexes of the Greek Armed Forces.
The military leadership monitors with absolute concentration and composure every move of the neighbors, decodes all the elements and raises the level of vigilance with targeted movements. The goal is for deterrence forces, especially in “hot” areas, to be on full alert to deal with any possible scenario.
Our acritic islands are clearly a priority, which the neighbors have “targeted” with their unacceptable accusations of alleged demilitarization, which they are increasingly putting in the “frame”, now launching threats for actions beyond the inflammatory statements challenging Greek sovereignty. In the last few days, all ASDEN Units have been taking part in a series of exercises either at the local level or in cooperation with the Navy and the Air Force, which culminated last week. And they are expected to continue with similar intensity in the next period. The burden falls on the select forces of the Amphibious Paratroopers who also have the main responsibility in defending the islands and islets near the sea borders of the country.
At the same time, by order of the Chief of General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the “iron fist” to prevent the Archipelago, the powerful force “Delta Force”, is on high alert. In any case, “D” has fast reflexes to intervene immediately in a minimum of time in every corner of the Aegean. The “Delta Force” is an Interdisciplinary Force of special composition with a specific structure and means detached from surface units of the Fleet Headquarters, ATA fighters, Army Air Force helicopters and Special Operations / Special Forces units. Both its structure and strength vary accordingly. with the regular requirements of the company as judged by GEETHA to which it belongs directly.
In addition, the escalation of the Turkish provocation in the air results in the Tactical Aviation Headquarters being on alert since, apart from the watch airports in Skyros, Lemnos and Kastelli, all the Squadrons have an increased number of fighters required to assist the Rediness. In any case, the Greek “hawks” are daily called to give answers in the air, especially in the last days.
At sea, the great exercise of the Navy “STORM” is completed. However, a significant number of warships will remain on alert in the Aegean after the start of the Turkish “EFES” exercise. The ships of the Fleet as usual will monitor every movement of the neighbors. While the Coast Guard is also on high alert since the stimulated migration flows have increased in recent weeks with the vessels of LS-ELAKT constantly patrolling the sea borders.
