Frigates: Greek MEKOs become Bayraktar hunters – The Dutch play hard

The Naval Group’s French offer seems ideal, but why not play it alone?

Frigates: The Greek MEKOs become Bayraktar hunters while the Dutch play hard with the ESSM block II and maybe an intermediate solution ship.

The French submitted their proposal in Athens for the modernization of the Greek MEKO and the 3 + 1 corvettes Gowind.

It is interesting to see the French proposal, regarding the modernization of the MEKO 200HN.

This is a proposal of two parameters, since in addition to the French, the Dutch of Thales also enter the game.

The French proposal of the Naval Group is going to give uniformity to the Greek fleet, since apart from MEKO, the French systems Belharra and Gowind will also have French systems.

The proposal seems ideal, but why not play it alone?

The Admirals, as we have written again in Sportime, do not turn a blind eye to a feature of the French Mica, which the French put in their proposal for Gowind and MEKO.

The VL MICA NG do not yet fit in quadrants per cell, which means that instead of 32 we will have, if we put them, eight per ship.

The French are trying to solve this problem and if they manage to put four Mica in a cell, then Athens locks the Aegean, in collaboration with the Aster 30 of Belharra.

Thales Netherlands’s ship modernization proposal now includes four ESSM Block 2s in each cell.

Is Mica a better rocket than ESSM Block 2? They are, as they have active guidance, extremely short reaction time and can hit aircraft, missiles, smart bombs and helicopters.

But ESSM Block 2 is more per ship, making it more useful to deal with satiety attacks.

Based on the design, it seems that the Greek MEKO will play the role of the hunters of the Turkish drones, in the saturation attacks of the Turks against the Greek Belharra.

At the same time, the Dutch are not surprised if they submit a proposal on their own, which will include a Dutch frigate as an intermediate solution ship.

The Dutch have this opportunity and they will definitely play this card.

The Greek planning for the locking of the Aegean is proceeding normally.
