“Euronaval 2022”: CMN presented the new SeaGuard-96 corvette

Response from France, Ioannis Nikitas

During the international exhibition “Euronaval 2022” the French shipyards CMN presented the new corvette SeaGuard-96, which was designed and developed in cooperation with the German shipyards German Naval Yards (the two shipyards belong to the same group).

SeaGuard-96 incorporates a state-of-the-art combat management system and is modular in design, so that it can be adapted according to the operational requirements of each customer.

It also incorporates multi-function 3D radar and sensors and weapons, depending on requirements (anti-aircraft missiles, anti-ship missiles, etc.).

The whole design incorporates Stealth features. The main gun is located in the forward part, while the helipad is in the rear part of the ship. SeaGuard-96 is 96 meters long and 13.5 meters wide.

The displacement of the ship is about 2,000 tons, while the manning requirements are 60 people. The propulsion system consists of two diesel engines and four generators. The ship’s maximum speed is 28 knots (52 kilometers per hour), while its standard range is 4,000 nautical miles (7,408 kilometers).
