Erdogan “blackmails” the US for F-16s: We will get aircraft from elsewhere, maybe from Russia

Turkish President Erdogan indirectly threatened the US, that if they do not sell him F-16s, Turkey will buy fighters from other countries, among which he mentioned Russia.

“I hope the United States will not push us down other roads. What I mean by this is that the United States is not the only one in the world that sells fighter planes. England, France, Russia also sell. It is possible to get them everywhere,” said the Turkish head of state.

“There are already some who are sending us signals,” he added, referring to countries that are potential suppliers.

“Biden has a positive approach to the F-16s, but he hinted that the Republicans are against it,” Erdogan said, adding, however, that “My foreign minister met with a representative of the Republicans in Bulgaria (…) who said that they could support us”.
