Erdogan’s move with the drilling rig that will blow everything up – Barrage of challenges in Greek-Turkish
Turkey and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are trying to put fire in Greek-Turkish relations once again, and Recep Tayyip Erdogan seems ready to make other moves by taking the drilling rig out of the safe space in which it has been moving until today.
The alarming concentration of migrants and fears of an invasion of the Greek border seem to be yet another plan by the neighboring country to keep Greece on its toes.
At the same time, however, one of the thoughts that the Turkish president is said to have is to put the so far “quiet” “Abdul Hamid Khan” in the game of provocation.
According to what Theodoros Karyotis, professor emeritus of the University of Maryland, stated on the Open channel, the Turkish drilling rig may follow an even more challenging course than the Oruc Reis.
More specifically, one of Erdogan’s thoughts is to send “Abdul Hamid Khan” to where Greece’s EEZ is demarcated with Egypt.
Such a development could be tragic as Greece will be called upon to show its own reaction which may have unknown consequences.
As the professor pointed out, it is the first time in history that a country drills into the territory of another in order to extract natural gas, and only Turkey has done this in the Cypriot EEZ.
He also noted that if Erdogan decides to move dangerously towards Greece, then the most likely place for this to happen will be in the triangle, Kastellorizo - Crete – Cyprus.
We remind you that after the end of the tourist season, Erdogan is expected to increase the provocation and in fact may create a heated episode either on the Evros or on one of the Greek islands as he seems determined to create tension with Greece in view of the elections in the neighboring country.
