Anduril Industries has launched the third phase of the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) TALOS program to accelerate an integrated command and control (C2) solution.
Over 31 months, the US autonomous systems supplier, together with the UK Strategic Command’s jHub innovation service, will explore technologies used in the Lattice Software Platform (LSP), which integrates various systems and technologies such as edge processing, big data and artificial intelligence. AI) to promote the approach of the Ministry of Development to C2.
Under the contract, the company will provide its services for the protection of fixed installations in a deal worth £17 million ($20.6 million) with an option to increase to £24 million.
Previously, the first phase of TALOS provided an initial understanding of Anduril’s autonomous Sentry Towers and their utility at active Royal Air Force (RAF) bases, while the second phase introduced the assurance of multiple layers of force protection at multiple locations across its estate MoD.

Now, the third phase – called “Entrelazar” – will experiment and explore developments in key technologies that could open up the force protection network to new additional capabilities.
“The contract with jHub will enable Anduril to accelerate modern defense technology and strongly support UK defence,” said Greg Kausner, Anduril’s head of global defence.
“Force protection and intrusion countering are increasingly important as the nature of threats expands, and Anduril’s Lattice platform can play a key role.
“Our goal is to meet the specific requirements of the armed forces to better shape the future of defense with advanced, modern technology.”
What other future technologies are out there?
MARSS recently showcased additional technologies it had incorporated into the NiDAR C2 solution at the Defense Security and Equipment International Show in September.
One area in which MARSS expanded was its multi-layered surveillance systems. Integrated into the wider NiDAR network, RADiRguard – an intelligent all-in-one perimeter surveillance solution – provides 24/7 autonomous monitoring, detection, tracking and decision support in the event of a security incident.
Similarly, MARSS applies the same concept to its ‘smart street lamps’ which, apart from the added benefit of public lighting, provide the same surveillance solution around a fixed complex such as RAF air bases.
Such surveillance systems dotted around a fixed installation may also make use of electro-optical and/or infrared (EO/IR) imagery.
According to GlobalData, the global market for military EO/IR systems is valued at USD 10.1 billion in 2022, and the company forecasts the market to grow at a CAGR of 3.1% between 2022-32. It is expected to reach USD 13.6 billion by 2032 and a cumulative value of USD 124.1 billion during the forecast period.
